Describes how the course grade is calculated.

Your grade in the course is determined by three major categories:
(a)
Progress Exam Results
(b)
Final Exam
(c)
Homework/Weekly Assignments

Progress Exam Results: During each exam, you will test on exactly 4 Modules. To master a Module, you will need to answer 4-5 questions correctly for that Module. That means you have 16 attempts to show mastery of 8 Modules (for a C), 9-10 Modules (for a B), or 11-12 Modules (for an A). You can find three example students below.

Final Exam: The Final Exam is cumulative over Modules 1-8. This is meant to check that you understand functions in general and do not need to be told what section you are working on to understand the function. You need only pass (15 or more questions correct out of 25) to keep the grade you earned during Progress Exams. Failing the Final Exam lowers your final grade by 1 letter (e.g., B C). Note: This means you must master the 8 Core Modules AND pass the Final Exam to pass the course.

Homework/Weekly Assignments: You can complete the online homework at any time. While unwise, you could even use websites or graphing calculators to complete the homework with minimal effort. This is why the homework does not count for a large portion of the grade - there is no way to know you are doing the work.

Weekly Assignments cover details about the course and do not go over course content. You will be able to redo Weekly Assignments during the week they are open as many times as you like. Everyone should get 100% on every Weekly Assignment.

For these reasons, the homework and Weekly Assignments do not factor heavily into your grade for completing them. These are the bare minimum you should be doing for the course and are expected of you as a university student. Failure to complete at least 80% of the homework or Weekly Assignments will drop your grade by a third-letter (e.g., B B-).
