A score on a traditional exam gives you very little information on what you do not yet know. A score of 90% means you did well, but what didn’t you know? Did you make simple mistakes that led to missing the other 10% or did you not understand some small set of the concepts? Since this is a mastery-based course, it is important for you to know what you don’t know so you can improve for the next exam!
To help this, your score on an exam is broken down by the Module you tested on. In Canvas, you will see assignments that say things like “PE1 M1 Results”. This means your score on Progress Exam 1, Module 1 and is graded out of 5 points. To show mastery of a Module, you need to score at least 4/5. By scoring well, you are showing that you understand nearly everything about a certain concept.
You will be given your answers back after the exam period ends. Then, you can check the specific questions you got wrong, figure out what you did wrong, and learn from them. Being able to learn from your mistakes is the most important aspect of this course!
